Founder and CEO, Philip Maung, Attends Presidential Address as a Guest of White House

Philip Maung, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hissho Sushi, was recently recognized by the White House for his visionary leadership in tough economic times and had the honor attending the President’s address to a joint session Congress as a guest of First Lady, Michelle Obama, on September 8th, 2011.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for our accomplishments.” Maung said “The fact that we have been able to succeed and grow in a difficult economic environment is a testament to our corporate culture and the dedication of our employees and chefs. In addition, we would not exist today were it not for our retail markets and their loyal partnership and, of course, the many thousands of people who enjoy eating Hissho Sushi every day.”

Hissho Sushi Recognized by Inc. Magazine

For the second consecutive year, Hissho Sushi has been named to the Inc. 500|5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies. This year, Hissho Sushi ranked #3184 overall and is, once again, ranked in the Top 100 in the Food & Deli Division (In 2010 Hissho ranked #3571 overall). Hissho Sushi manages and operates over 400 sushi bars in upscale supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, hospitals, universities, and corporate foodservice locations. CEO Philip Maung Chosen as One of Top 50 Catalyst Entrepreneurs

On Tuesday, March 3rd, 2011, Business Leader Media hosted the Charlotte Top 50 Entrepreneurs Awards in NC. The Top Catalyst Entrepreneur Award is given to dynamic and outstanding business professionals who greatly contribute to the growth of their communities. Each winner is a trendsetter and innovator who help revitalize the local economy, create job opportunities and generate strong company revenues.
